District resident Carl Sanders, 22, and 19-year-old Andres Rodriguez-Corona, 19, of Waldorf, have both been charged in connection to the fatal shooting inside the store on Thursday afternoon in Hillcrest Heights.

Members of the Prince George's County Police Department responded at around 5:50 p.m. on Oct. 10 to a reported shooting inside a business in the 3700 block of Branch Avenue, where they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A responding officer spotted three men who matched the descriptions of the suspects approximately a half mile from the scene of the shooting, and when prompted to stop, they all took off on foot.

The first officer was able to apprehend Rodriguez-Corona, who was in possession of a handgun, police say.

Later that night, at around 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, investigators were able to track down and arrest Sanders during a traffic stop in the area of 28th Avenue and St. Barnabas Road in Temple Hills.

He was found to be in possession of two ghost guns at the time.

The third suspect remains at large as of Friday, Oct. 11.

According to investigators, detectives believe the three targeted their victim inside of the store, though the motive remains under investigation.

Rodriguez-Corona was charged with first- and second-degree murder, as well as other related offenses. Sanders was charged with multiple weapons offenses.

Both are being held in the custody of the Department of Corrections. The shooting remains under investigation.
